My background
I was born in Calcutta, India. I have obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In the past, I was employed as a graphic designer in the Oil and Gas industry in Houston. I have also worked as a Montessori assistant teacher. Currently, I work at a local High School, as a substitute teacher and teaching aid.
I live in Houston with my husband and our 15 year old daughter. My family and I, love to travel and experience diverse cultures and traditions. My hobbies include Zumba, Yoga, long walks, cooking, reading, and hanging out with family and friends. Exercise and cooking helps me balance my daily schedule.
Professional Goals
I have a masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree from Wake Forest University. As a LPC-Intern, my goal is to support and empower people to live optimally and achieve wellness, growth, and individual goals. I believe that counseling is a dynamic and holistic process, and I strive to promote respect, unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence, and respect in every counseling setting. I work at West Houston Counseling Ctr.
I enjoy working with clients from diverse and multicultural backgrounds. I am multilingual and speak English, Bengali, and Hindi. I provide low cost options to clients.

Long-term Professional Development Goals:
One of my long-term goals and a primary area of interest include enhancing my knowledge and understanding of multicultural counseling and wellness-based approach to counseling. In the next three years, I hope to improve my counseling skills and experience in working with adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds. I plan to enhance my skills/knowledge by obtaining certification in multicultural counseling, EMDR, and some form of Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR and ACT).
